I wanted to take a moment and write about my vision. But first, let me tell you how it came to be.
I love food. I even watch shows about it. One of those shows, Man vs. Food, sometimes features places that were founded during times of great economic hardship. And, not only did these places go against all odds and open during a time of economic austerity, but they won. These businesses survived and prospered over time.
If then, why not now?
Our world has changed since the Great Depression, so we're told. Many now think we're just in a deep recession. But I think that's just a label. Unemployment is still up, jobs are still gone. People are being fed on the streets and in the parks by charitable organizations. Talk to the people on the street. They'll tell you how it is, in stark, realistic detail. Sometimes with curses. Sometimes with tears. Sometimes holding the hands of small, frightened children.
I'll get back to this in a little while - I've got to get to work. I have to meet with a student I'm tutoring. I'm trying to develop my own business since I can't seem to find a full-time job, either.
